Rune Crafting and The Norse Gods
I've been working on my glass runes again. It took me two nights to sort all my glass gems into their color groups. I have plenty to work with. I need to get the ones I have done on etsy soon! Usually when I get into working with the runes I start feeling a connection to the Norse gods - this time I'm really feeling drawn to the gods of my ancestors. I've been wanting to create a spirit doll of Freya at some point - maybe that will happen soon. I got a really cool Thor's Hammer pendant with a dragon wrapped around it and have been wearing it constantly. I started reading Essential Asatru by Diana L. Paxson and a couple books on rune magick. I think being away from the influence of my ex-friend who hated the Norse gods has finally opened me their call. I still love Oya from the Ifa pantheon, Erzulie Dantor and Papa Legba from the vodou pantheon, Ganesh, Kali, and Shiva from the Hindu pantheon, and the Celtic goddess Brighid as well as the angels. Yes I am very eclectic. I doubt I would ever be a dedicated traditional Asatru practioner, but I am going to learn about and listen to the gods of my ancestors now.
